A good friend of mine is leaving New York back to Paris, so we were here at the one of the best rooftops in New York to kiss goodbye this city. Though I only have known him for a month, it really feels that we have been friends for a long while, and I appreciate this friendship experience.

While walking to Time Square in the rain, I asked him how was New York, and what are the differences from Paris, as a Parisian? He said, the people, the crowd, and the skyscraper surroundings. To breathe the air, to inspire the street lights, to feel brand new.

“What about the ladies !? Let’s settle that century-long debate,” I dropped him the bomb in the bar. He was quiet for 5 minutes, and told me he had no answer. “But, I like America, even though there are more ‘rules’ in New York thus I feel less free,” he commented, “I like the mindset how people focus on the positives and minimize the negatives.”

His experience in the Concrete Jungle.

“It is really a different city,” he exclaimed while watching the Sleepless in the rain as the bar closing down. On his phone showed Paris from his apartment in a wide-angle panoramic view in which the Eiffel Tower abruptly stands upright on that flat, ancient european city, and I sympathized his sentiments.

You may have everything for some time, or some things for all the time, but you can’t have everything for all the time. Ultimately you can’t own things in life. Don’t let politics blind you. On race. On gender. On culture. Don’t let language be a barrier of communication. Life is to experience the people, the matters, and you are to feel out this city. Her spirits. “Once you are a New Yorker, you are New Yorker for life.” I said to him.

“The next time I see you. I will be super awesome danger sweet at French,” I proposed him, “Let us then tell the ladies on the flip side how much we love them, too.”

“So, that’s an À Bientôt.” I drank up my glass of Rose. Man I'm ready been missing you.
