Perineural  invasion  is most  commonly seen in SCCs of the head and neck region extending  at  least  into  the  deep dermis .  The presence  of  perineural  invasion  has  been  associated with  a higher  risk  for  local  recurrence, which may  be heralded  by  pain  in  the  area  supplied  by  the  involved nerve
