This is a case of cryptococcosis of the central nervous system, which often presents in immunosuppressed patients with little associated inflammation. The yeasts are oval or round pink structures, each with a thick capsule. Many exist in groups of 2, with a narrow connecting base in between. They may be confused as red blood cells, but their size variation, consistent oval shape and lacking folded forms or disc-shape are quite characteristic.

  This is a case of cryptococcosis of the central nervous system, which often presents in immunosuppressed patients with little associated inflammation. 本例是一中枢神经系统的隐球菌感染，常见于免疫抑制的患者，伴随的炎症非常轻微。The yeasts are oval or round pink structures, each with a thick capsule. 孢子卵圆形或圆形粉红结构，每一个孢子都有较厚的外囊。Many exist in groups of 2, with a narrow connecting base in between. 许多孢子二个成组，有狭窄的基底部相连。They may be confused as red blood cells, but their size variation, consistent oval shape and lacking folded forms or disc-shape are quite characteristic. 有时可能误认为是红细胞，它们和红细胞的大小不一样，呈卵圆形，没有皱折也没有盘样结构。

 以上图片中的黑色成份为炎症细胞。

本例转院后诊断：肺隐球菌，伴隐球菌性脑膜炎。

 可能是球形红细胞，边缘有透亮带可能和调焦距有关，不象隐球菌。
