It is well known that some cases of various histologic types of human cancer may express CD117 at the level of immunohistochemistry. However, it is difficult to translate this into chemosensitivity to Gleevec (Imatinib) therapy in these malignancies different from CML and GIST. In fact, oncologists have in the past 7-8 years tried to treat these other cancers and have found them not to respond much at all. Therefore, oncologists should resist the temptation of treating these cancers with Gleevec (taken orally but quite expensive) or giving patients false hope.

许多不同组织类型的人类癌症在免疫组化检测时发现可以表达CD117，可是这种阳性不能把它当成是在这些恶性肿瘤中格列卫药物治疗的化学敏感性，除外慢性髓性白血病（CML)和胃肠道间质瘤(GIST)。实际上，在近7-8年来肿瘤学者已经尝试着，用格列卫对CD117阳性的，非CML和GIST的恶性肿瘤进行治疗，但是大部分病例都没有良好的效应。因此。。。。。。（尝试翻译马老师的发言，但最后的一句话不是太理解还是请马老师或其他网友指点）
