From your description, it sounds like an acute myeloid leukemia. Please post some pictures of these blasts with granules. In general, the granules in monoblasts or promonocytes are small and reddish. Large basophilic granules are usually seen in promyelocytes and basophils (including corresponding acute leukemia).
