If you diagnose condyloma purely depend upon finding classic viral cytopathic effect (classic koilocytes), you are underdiagnose this entity. Dr. Chris Crum wrote this nice review in 2005 stating that although the majority of condylomas are having classic viral cytopathic effect, there are some condylomas are without viral cytopathic effect (such as the so called fibroepithelial polyp) and some look like seborrheic keratosis.

如果诊断尖锐湿疣单纯依靠典型的挖空细胞的话,就有可能对本病造成漏诊,Dr. Chris Crum 2005年的综述中说明:尽管大多数的尖锐湿疣有典型挖空细胞改变,但确有部分病例缺乏这种改变,可能被误诊为纤维上皮型息肉或脂溢性角化病。参考文献:
