Unsatisfactory for evaluation.
We need about 5000-8000 well preserved squamous cells/liquid based prep for a satisfactory evaluation. Cells in this prep are mostly very poorly preserved. Although the few preserved cells don't show abnormality, it may not represent the true situation in patient. We shouldn't give clinician and patient false reassurance.
With my microscope, 5000-8000 cells/liquid based prep equals to about 5 cells/40X field. In conventional preps, it needs about 12000 cells/prep to be satisfactory.
