These oval structures with parallel fibers within are oblique sections of normal peripheral nerves. Each and every saussage-like fiber is a myelinated nerve fiber with the bulk being myelin sheath. If you look carefully, you will see the actual axon (or axis cylinder) in its center as a small calibered red or purple fiber or dot, depending on the direction of section. These are different from suture materials.
